NY State Museum

The Illustrations are by Rockwell Kent.who was doing art in the 20s and 30s..Notice that Christmas Seals were for tuberculosis..I am thinking in light of Linda's post that as we progressed throught thhe 20th Century ancient diseases are cured.

Paper Route

Here is Mary and John Opalka our next door neighbors and the first customer on my route. THe Opalkas were married for 65 yrs, you can see that they are young here

Mary is 92 yrs old and is in excellent condition, but she wouldn't let me take her picture. Tomorrow she is going to get up and make perogies, with prunes and crackers. In the white bowl is potatoes and cheese

Bottles and cans

Here are Mary O's recyclables. She worries that the kids and skunks will get in the garbage if she puts it out the night before

This is the path from Mary's house out to the street , Mary Lyford takes our neighbor's recyclables out to the road every other Friday when we start out doing papers

This is Country before Country was cool about 1950 .This is a lithograph executed by my father at a fair in Conneticut..Notice that there is no sound equipment

WWII Lithograph

This is self evident what it is
"Christ among the riches and thieves" My father Roger Thurston Lyford attempted to make his living as a Fine Artist mid last century. His imagery here reflects the traumas and horrors of WWII as he includes at Golgatha the soldiers and onlookers in contemporary dress

This called Yankee Doodle Fair...Windy day in Conneticut ca.1950
