I'm so happy you spoke with the owner b/c I was interested in the history of these types of barns. They look much more architecturally thoughtful than the typical barn. I wonder if it is expense that kept most farmers from building this type.
Stunning image, Phil! I love the bright colors of the barn/grass....with a touch of blue in the sky. Great angle of view...overall terrific image! I also was impressed that you spoke to the owner...I enjoyed the history lesson. Roger told me that the barns were built in that manner, too, to allow for more storage of hay bales in the attic. Vents were needed, because the hay generated a lot of heat...enough to burn a person's hand (and the whole barn!). Great post! :-)
