Me against Jay Street
Coming home in the afternoon on a dreary day there is nothing more heartening then picking up junk in the neighborhood,,Sounds weird but going out in to our crummy neighborhood and cleaning up the street gives you a feeling of empowerment and a sense that "The junk can't touch you if you are not afraid to touch it" or something like that.
Also discovered two treasures ..ceramic statue with no head,,juniper bows with berries
last picture ...two bags ready for pick up

Signs of the Past Part 2
At a later point this building will come into perspective. but meanwhile we have always heard of the great industrial engine which Troy was in the 1800's. Doing research for my bell project led me to contact the Rensselaer County historian who suggested that I visit the Burden Iron Works Museum billed as the "Nerve Center fo the Silicon Valley of the Nineteenth Century and Headquaters of the Hudson Mohawk Industrial Gateway"
This building is about the size of the New County Court House in Fonda. It used to be the main office building .
Out side the Musem is this crucible. Iron was transported over tracks inside th efactory then was poured in to molds
Some closeups
This horseshoe is one of 70 million that were cast over a period 0f 50 years .Upon the advent of the Civil War Burden was given the contract to shoe all the horses in the Union Army,,From then on for the next 50 years this brought in $1,000,000 per year or in modern terms one half a Billion per year...for 50 years.....Does any one know what the Civil War or WWII cost?
The spike form was invented by invented by Burden and was/is used in all of the railroads in the country 2 for each tye
Search the right side of the illustration for this building to help imagine the size of the Works
1876 Centenial Bell
This is a replica of the Libery Bell which was cast in !876 The Liberty Bell is only 1,200 lbs while this bell is 13,000 lbs (Commemorating the 13 colonies) The Libery Bell is no longer in place ..This bell now is in the Tower of Independence Hall and is rung every hour

Sanford Stud Farm
After Church I had to go to Price Chopper.. I drove past the large Birthing Barn and saw a young man talking to some people .Having driven past the barn many times I decided to stop
This is Pat who lives in the Town of Amsterdam and is a volunteer for the restoration of The Sanford Stud Farm.
The mares barn is in the distance;framed by the door
The Stallions Single Barns are the row of small barns..Each stallion had their own barn. They had to be isolated from each other and the mares due to the difficulty of handling and irascible natures
The last picture is taken from the brochure they hand out. The large Oval at the bottom of the picture is the Inside Exercise Track. It would have extended past present day Walgreens. At the top of the picture is the Outside Flat Track which is now Walmarts
To the left is route30
